Premier Inn – A Good Night’s Sleep In London & The UK
Great Value and Convenient Accommodation in the UK
Premier Inn – A Good Night’s Sleep In London & The UK
If you’re traveling to the United Kingdom for pleasure or business, it’s important to choose a hotel where you can sleep in comfort and awake feeling energized and ready to face the day. If you and your family are exploring the British Isles on vacation, you’ll also want to stay in hotels conveniently located near all the attractions. The Premier Inn meets all these requirements.
When booking online, the hotel always looks great…until you get there. While chain hotels may not offer variety and quaint charm, at least you can rest assured you’ll get the kind of room you expect for the price you’re paying. And traveling with children, often standardization is the safest route to take.
Fortunately, there is a good selection of budget hotel chains serving England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, including Best Western, Easy Hotels Ibis, Holiday Inn Express, Ibis, Premier Inn, and Travelodge.
You can easily locate hotels in the cities and towns you wish to visit that offer great value for money. However, which of these hotel chains provide the best accommodation and why?
Premier Inn Locations
Taking your kids from one city to another, you’ll find they settle better and sleep well if the rooms, facilities, and meal choices are all similar. So, if possible, you should use the same chain in all the places you visit while exploring the UK.
Premier Inn has over 800 hotels across the UK, which is 300 more than its nearest competitor Travelodge and far more than any of the other chains. They have established a reputation for offering great value accommodation near key landmarks, such as Westminster Abbey, the London Eye, and St James’s Park.
Whether you’re on vacation with your family, intent on cycling from coast-to-coast with your best friend, or in the UK on business, you will be able to find a convenient and affordable Premier Inn hotel wherever you go.
Premier Inn Awards & Ratings
When I want to check out a hotel, the first thing I look at is its ratings on TripAdvisor, Google, or Booking.com. And something important I’ve noticed is that one hotel chain consistently comes out top in the UK.
An astonishing 588 of Premier Inn hotels across the UK hold TripAdvisor’s coveted Certificate of Excellence. Also, Premier Inn London City Aldgate was rated as the TripAdvisor 2019 Top Hotel for Families in the UK.
In fact, 3 of the top 12 family-friendly hotels in the country are Premier Inn hotels but none are owned by Travelodge. When you compare the TripAdvisor ratings for a Premier Inn hotel and the nearest Travelodge hotel, the Premier Inn almost always comes out ahead.
And if you’re traveling for business, you might be interested to hear that in 2019 Premier Inn won the 2019 Business Traveler Awards for the 8th year in a row. This prestigious award is given based on votes from readers of Business Traveler magazine.
Premier Inn Comfort
One of the many reasons Premier Inn gains so many positive customer reviews is their standardized plush room layouts. In all their hotels, they provide Hypnos beds, which are guaranteed to give you a good night’s sleep. All rooms also come with a power shower, Freeview TV, Wi-Fi, a hairdryer, tea & coffee making facilities, and blackout curtains you can draw to shut yourself off from the outside world any time of the day or night.
Premier Inn Family Friendly
When you’re traveling as a family, it’s important to choose hotels that understand and accommodate your needs. Premier Inn offer extremely family-friendly facilities. Their family rooms not only have a king-size Hypnos bed for the adults, but they also feature two sofa beds or pull-out beds for your kids for no extra cost. And if you have a baby on board, they’ll also provide a cot.
At Premier Inn hotels, children under 16 years old stay for free. And if you order breakfast for yourself, two of your children eat breakfast for free. That’s one of the many good reasons TripAdvisor named the Premier Inn London City Aldgate the top hotel for families in 2019.
Premier Inn Food options
While breakfasts and meals are only available at extra cost in Premier Inn hotels, they are provided at reasonable prices. And, as already mentioned, your kids can eat for free if you order. For breakfast, you can choose between a light Continental breakfast or a hearty Full English breakfast.
There’s a good range of choices for dinner. Your kids will see all their favorites on the menu, including spaghetti Bolognese, chicken salsa burgers, and cheesy vegetable pasta. All children’s meals include at least one of their five recommended fruit and vegetables for the day.
But the best value comes from taking advantage of their Meal Deal. You can buy a Premier Inn Breakfast, any 2-course dinner in one of their restaurants, and a selected drink from £24.99 ($32.35). Their restaurants include Bar & Block, Beefeater, Brewers Fayre, Cookhouse & Pub, Table Table, and Whitbread Inns.
Bicycle Policy
If you enjoy exploring by bicycle, you’ll love to hear that Premier Inns are bike-friendly. They allow you to keep your bike in your room (as long as it is clean) and can help you out finding facilities to keep your bike clean and well maintained. Of course, you can’t ride your bicycle along the hotel corridors. But you can wheel it inside and keep your means of transport safe from theft or damage while you explore the scenic cycle paths all around the UK.
Environmental Impact
Something that causes me to lose sleep is our impact on the environment. If you share my views, you’ll be delighted to learn that Premier Inn is dedicated to sustainability. They have created a sustainability program called Force for Good which aims to work together with communities to act sustainably and responsibly.

Enjoy Your Stay In The UK
If you are visiting the UK for business or pleasure, I’m sure you’ll have a wonderful time. In my opinion, you and your family will enjoy yourself more if you stay in a Premier Inn hotel. But I hope you will do your own research before you travel and discover for yourself what your best accommodation options are.

Robert loves nature and history. As a child, he drove his parents crazy on vacation begging to visit museums and castles instead of beaches and theme parks. Now his children send him insane by demanding to visit beaches and theme parks.
He became interested in travel while studying archaeology and anthropology at Cambridge University. He volunteered on archaeological excavations all around the British Isles then enjoyed a year exploring and learning about China.
Today, he loves writing about the places he’s visited and still spends time exploring museums and castles.
